TLC The Learning Centre is proud to announce that following its recent Ofsted inspection in November 2024, the school has been awarded an overall rating of ‘Good’, with ‘Outstanding’ recognition in the areas of Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. This prestigious achievement highlights the school’s unwavering commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment.
The Ofsted report praised the exceptional ethos at TLC, stating:
“Pupils are happy at TLC (The Learning Centre) and find it a safe place to re-connect with learning. They develop the confidence and self-esteem they need to approach their next steps with success. Parents and carers speak highly of the positive difference that the school has made to their child’s well-being.”
Helen Dyer, Principal of TLC The Learning Centre, expressed her delight in the recognition:
“We are incredibly proud to have received ‘Outstanding’ in Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. This reflects the dedication of our staff in ensuring that every learner is supported, valued, and given the best possible environment to thrive. It is especially rewarding to see Ofsted acknowledge the strong relationships we build and the culture of mutual respect that defines our school.”
The inspectors commended the school’s approach to behaviour and attitudes, noting how “Close working relationships with parents and carers, helps the school to provide highly personalised support that greatly improves pupils’ attendance, behaviour, and attitudes to learning.”
They also praised the staff’s relationships with learners, stating:
“Staff know pupils’ individual needs well. They know how to best support each pupil if they are finding something difficult. Relationships between pupils and staff are highly effective.”
The school was also praised for its holistic approach to learning, stating that “Pupils benefit from a broad range of experiences outside of the classroom, for example rock climbing and experiences of work. This helps pupils develop their talents and interests.”
Tracey Storey, Founder, CEO, and Executive Chair of Melrose Education, celebrated the success of TLC, saying:
“Achieving ‘Outstanding’ in Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and commitment of the TLC team.
