On 11th December 2025, TLC The Learning Centre, a Special Educational Needs school in Bromley, welcomed His Worshipful The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Jonathon Andrews, for an engaging and educational visit. The Mayor spoke to learners about his role, sharing fascinating stories from his time in office, highlighting his charity work, and discussing his personal experience of being autistic.
The visit formed part of TLC’s focus on learning about British Institutions. Learners asked insightful questions about politics, local government, and the responsibilities of holding a civic role. They were particularly interested to learn that local borough Mayors act as the King’s representatives, highlighting the link between local government and the Monarchy.
Helen Dyer, Principal of TLC, said:
“It was an incredible experience for our learners to meet Cllr Andrews and hear first-hand about his role and responsibilities. His openness about his experiences and dedication to public service was truly inspiring, and it sparked meaningful conversations about civic life, inclusion, and leadership.”
The visit provided learners with a unique opportunity to understand the workings of British institutions while celebrating diversity and promoting curiosity about public life.
