We are absolutely committed to supporting our staff to achieve their career progression goals and aspirations and are pleased to share some of their success stories here.

    Shelley

I started my career path working for a national newspaper which was fun and enjoying.  After having my children, I decided that I wanted to be there for them and took a position within a main stream secondary school which was eye opening and made me realise that many children have difficulties in their lives outside of school. I found this upsetting so I took it upon myself to be there for them; to be their listening ear.  I found that children would come to more just to offload which was rewarding in itself, but seeing them achieve their own personal goals was even better.

Just before lockdown, and after training to be a Teaching Assistant, I took a position at TLC where I was working on a 1-2-1 basis with a looked after child. The role was both challenging and rewarding.  After Covid, we all returned back to the classrooms which was wonderful.  After TLC became part of the Melrose Education Group, I was given the opportunity to study for a diploma in counselling which was a great opportunity and achievement for me!  I really like working with the learners and seeing them smiling when they have achieved the qualifications they need to enable them to move forward to the next chapter. I truly believe that “every child matters”, and the fact I am able to help them along the way is just a great feeling.

Through my role as a TA I have worked in many schools. TLC for me has totally blown my mind with the amount of care and compassion from each member of staff and how much the children strive to do well and succeed in all they do.

TLC is a school where the children are at the heart of everything we do. We are here to give these amazing young learners experiences and confidence.

TLC is not only a school but somewhere for these young learners to feel safe and understood. TLC gives them experiences that will stick with them as they grow and develop into adults. Working at TLC is such a rewarding job. Every day is different as we form relationships, make young learners smile, and support them to learn effectively in their own incredible way. I love being part of TLC and that I get to work with amazing staff and young learners in a creative and supportive learning environment.
